2009 Dog Days of Summer was a Smashing Success!

Our Dog Days of Summer Open House has concluded and our verdict... a 'barking' success!  We were pleased to host over 250 humans and 100 dogs over the two days.  It was great to see old friends and new customers both.  We unveiled our newest wine LeeRoy Out Loud! to a full house on Saturday, standing up on our tasting table (so elegant!) to introduce the winning artist Kellie Oliphant-Burns and our contest collaborater Moira McLaughlin from Dog Art Today.  And the best part - through the donations collected and our own contributions, we will be donating over $3,200 to our local Healdsburg Animal Shelter.  For Brenda and I, writing this donation check is always the most rewarding part!

The funniest part of the weekend was... the complete breakdown of the official photographer (me) taking pictures when our winery was chock-a-block full of dogs and humans, which was most of Saturday.  At the peak (Saturday around 1:45pm) we estimated over 35 dogs and 70 humans were mingling quite contently... damn, where was that camara!   At least we were able to capture a few satisfied guests enjoying themselves in 'dog' or 'human' activities.

Mark your calendars for next year - August 7th and 8th - and we'll see you there.
