2016 "mbf" Petite Sirah
If your not familiar with Petite Sirah, there is nothing petite (small) about it. The grape produces rich, complex and age-worthy wines that are dense in character and color. Our 2016 Reserve "mbf" Petite Sirah exhibits these qualities. Produced from grapes grown in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County, this wine exhibits flavors of dark plums, dried herbs, licorice and pepper spice. That sounds delicious!
From a Small Berry Comes One Big Dog of a Wine!
The Varietal. From a small berry comes one big dog! Petite Sirah is an interesting varietal. Descended from a cross between the noble Syrah and the little know Peloursin, Petite Sirah produces a hardy, age-worthy wine dense in character and color. Our 2016 Petite Sirah is from Alexander Valley, where warmer temperatures allow the grapes to fully ripen and develop beautiful black fruit flavors.
Brenda's Winemaking. My Petite Sirah was treated to gentle winemaking and oak aging. Fermentation took place in an open-top tank, with hand punch-downs. This approach prevents harsh tannins from being imparted to the wine and allows the wine to be fruit-forward. My 2016 vintage has been aging in 100% used French Oak barrels.

Food Pairing Notes
BBQ Ribs are the perfect match for our Petite Sirah. Petite Sirah's ample tannins need to be balanced by natural fattiness or sweetness in its food pairing. Thus, slow cooked pork ribs slathered in a wonderfully sweet yet sassy sauce.
