Introducing The Artist. Barbara Lawrence was born in San Francisco and spent her early years walking the hills and beaches, exploring the parks and museums and sailing on San Francisco Bay, all the time absorbing the rich visual information which later became her paintings. Her work is characterized by rich color and sensuous paint application. The special color and light of California provide her with a never-ending source of material.
Inspiration for the Painting. "A large part of my life has to do with morning walks on the beach with my beloved dog – Jaime. And he reminds me of the importance of living in the moment." - Barbara Lawrence.
2016 Pure Joy on the Beach Sonoma County Roussanne. Roussanne is such an expressive and distinctive wine. Originally from the Northern Rhone region of France, the grape excels in cooler regions of California. Winemaker Brenda Lynch's 2016 Roussanne, her first ever, comes from the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County. It playfully combines bright natural acidity and uplifting floral and pear flavors with a medium full finish focused on honey richness.
Bright and uplifting aromas and flavors of fresh flowers, ripe pears and peaches and exotic spices lead into a beautiful and richly textured mouthfeel that combines lively acidity with a rich finish. Roussanne can be such a distinctive white wine and this 2016 Sonoma County bottling showcases its hallmark characteristics.
Grapes for this distinctive wine come from the Prestigious Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County.
Food Pairing Notes
Roussanne's freshness, bright acidity and floral/pear flavors call for delicate yet rich dishes that feature lobster and crab. It can also be a very interesting match for the distinctive sweet spices in Madras curry. But its perfect and most traditional "French" pairing is with duck pate, a match truly made in heaven!
