2007 LeeRoy Out Loud! Meritage

Our Inaugural Label Contest Winner!
Mutt Lynch Winery and Dog Art Today were ecstatic to select LeeRoy Out Loud!, artist Kellie Oliphant-Burns' vibrant painting of her Italian Greyhound, as the winner in our 2009 'dog art' wine label contest.  LeeRoy now graces the label of a 2007 Meritage red wine, a superb blend of Cabernet Sauvigon and Merlot.  Kellie joined us at our Dog Days of Summer Open House in early August to officially unveil her winning painting and our new label and wine.  The only one missing was LeeRoy himself.  But Kellie has now made certain that LeeRoy's favorite new wine is, of course, LeeRoy Out Loud!

Only 500 bottles have been produced of this very, very special wine.

Brenda's Winemaking
Brenda selected two of her best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon and matched it with one barrel of exquisite Merlot for this special blend.  Meritage is a term to describe a 'blend' that uses grapes originating from Bordeaux, France.  Blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are amongst the best produced in the world.  The 2007 LeeRoy Out Loud blend was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels before bottling.

Tasting Notes
Deep cassis aromas and flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon are ever-present in this wine, supported by pretty red fruit and spice character from the Merlot.  Wonderful French oak flavors of "roasty-toasty" chocolate round out the flavors and aromas of this youthful wine.  Bottom line... it tastes really, really good! 

Food Recommendations
There is no better matching for this wine than a well prepared steak (picture a nice fillet mignon) with a side of sauteed mushrooms.  The savory flavors in both the meat and mushrooms matches perfectly the flavors of a nice Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot blend.
